The Society

The Bay Area Film Society was founded in the winter of 1997 by a small group of film lovers desperate for more films. We kicked off with “The Full Monty” at the local historical society on a snowy February night, not knowing if anyone would show. We sold out. We’ve been showing films ever since. For a while, we showed films at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in Ashland and at StageNorth in Washburn.  Then we settled in at StageNorth.  With the unfortunate (and hopefully temporary) closing of StageNorth in February 2014, we are now back in the comfortable theater at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in Ashland as our regular location. We show one to two films per month from September through April. Please join us in enjoying great cinema. And while you are here check out our BAFS Blog to find movie trailers, up to date information, special events and lots more.

See you at the movies.
